The 22-year-old signs a well deserved contract extension that will see him stay at United for the next 5 years.
On this new deal, the forward said:
“I am really proud to have signed this new contract. I have had some incredible moments with this club already but there is so much more to come. I have huge ambitions in the game and I want to achieve history at Manchester United.
“I have learnt so much since arriving here four years ago; I am very grateful to the coaches and staff who have helped me to develop, and to the fans for driving me forward every day.
“It has been a difficult season for everyone, but I fully believe that we are on the right path and the future is going to be really special. I am ready to give everything to help the team and make our supporters proud again.”
The contract was signed alongside Technical Director Jason Wilcox who said that “Everyone is delighted with Amad’s development; his quality on the ball, versatility and determination makes him a key part of the future of Manchester United."
He adds that Amad's best years are ahead of him and that all at United look forward to helping him get to the heights they know he can and achieve success at the club.
When he signed in 2021 under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, Amad was a relatively unknown player and while he has been a United player for 4 years, he's only made 50 appearances for the club and scored just 9 goals.
This is due to loan spells at the likes of Rangers and Sunderland, the latter of which saw him achieve success as Amad was awarded Sunderland's young player of the year in 22/23.
We were all excited to see what this young man can do in a United shirt but upon his return to Old Trafford last season, he ended picking up a knee injury that unfortunately kept him out for the first half of the season.
However, the second half saw him display the form and potential that we all believed he had. Amad's crowning moment of last season was his late winner against Liverpool in the quarter final of the FA Cup at Old Trafford en route to United lifting the trophy.
After a great end to last season and a good pre-season ahead of 24/25, everyone thought that this would be his year.
But then, it sort of wasn't.
While the campaign began somewhat well as Amad scored against Brighton in match 2 and dedicated his goal to his late stepmother, that was as good as it was going to get for him until the removal of Erik ten Hag.
For some reason, the Dutchman thought it a good idea to leave a player of Amad's quality and one that was one of his better performers, on the bench.
ten Hag brought Amad on in one of the more humiliating substitutions a player is like to face. The Ivorian had just a minute from the bench in United's 1-1 draw at Fenerbahce in which he came on for an injured Antony who himself was a substitute.
Amad looked distraught and almost defeated at having to come on in such a situation. It was so bad that all of Ruud van Nistelrooy, Rene Hake and Andreas Georgson tried to cheer the young man up.
After ten Hag's departure though, Amad has been different class disaplying not only his quality as a footballer but also his mindset as a person as in his situation where he did nothing wrong but was cast aside, it would've been very easy for him to give up or not put in as much effort.
But on the contrary, Amad got his head down and worked even harder and now he's reaping the rewards.
ten Hag was sacked post the West Ham defeat on 27 October. At that point, Amad had just 1 goal and 1 assist in 11 games.
In the following 12 games, Amad has had 11 goals and assists including the late winner at the Etihad and the late equalizer at Anfield.
His performances under Ruben Amorim have gone up to another level and is flourishing in his new roles of right wing-back and CAM.
He is one of the few players who have stood out this season and displayed exactly the type of player we need at United, one of quality and attitude. Amad is an example for everyone else.
Final Thoughts
Super happy with this news. He absolutely deserves it because of how well he's been playing and being an example for everyone.
United are better with him in the side and we see how much we miss him when he isn't there.
Saying that he wants to achieve history with United is something that I believe he can do should he carry on as he is. The potential with this lad is off the scales and we've only really seen him play for MUFC properly this season. The fact that he's done so much in such a short space of time is incredible and shows how far he can go.
He is one of the few players who has actually tried his hardest in games. The fact that we champion that speaks volumes for the type of players we have at our club and the club in general.
Could he become a legend?
Yesterday, Fabrizio Romano said that Amad had turned down joining other two top clubs as he only wanted to stay at United. That is music to my ears 🙌.
A player wanting to stay at United despite us being shite is always a great sign.
I'm just really happy with this news. I wanted to see how good he can be and I think that the loan spells helped him out. Now we are seeing exactly what this player is all about.
Imagine how good he can be if he's already done this much in just a year.
Well done Amad. Congratulations sir 👏.
We need more Amads.
