Man Utd will try to extend their winning streak to four when they host Crystal Palace on Sunday at Old Trafford.

MUFC picked up a good win last time out in the league and after a good performance on Thursday night especially from some of his youngsters, Amorim will be looking for more of the same from them again come Sunday despite uncertain futures.

Ruben Amorim says that Garnacho changed since the derby in which he was omitted from the matchday squad entirely which sparked a lot of talk that perhaps his time at United was up.

However, the manager has been regularly saying that Garnacho has been improving and that the player "changed in everything" and that all the merit has to go to Garnacho.

Amorim says that it's got nothing to do with Mainoo's contract and uncertain future at the club that has caused these dips in performances but instead points out to playing a little too much whereas now he is in and out of the side.

Yet the manager says that the "key point is the position" as further forward, Amorim believes that Mainoo felt happier to play as a number 10 resulting in his man of the match performance.

"I think he can change position."

With all the talk about Garnacho and Mainoo being up for sale, their manager says that he wants players like them in his team and that United also have to improve the academy.

Tyrell Malacia was hooked off at halftime in the win over FCSB after what was an indifferent performance. Amorim says that after such a long layoff through injury, "it's really hard on Malacia".

What also makes it difficult for the defender is that he is not the most offensive of full-backs says his manager, making it tougher for him to get into Amorim's team as the full-backs/wing-backs have to be quite attacking.

Final Thoughts

I do think that Garnacho was a player that was seen as someone who could struggle in Amorim's system simply because he was no wing-back. This position requires a lot of work up and down the pitch and Garnacho is not the most defensive of players.

I also believe that not being in the squad against City was a bit of a wakeup call to him that if he doesn't improve and/or adapt his game, he won't play.

While Amorim may not have done much to get Garnacho to improve, leaving him out of one of the biggest games of the season will most definitely have given him the kick he may have needed to get into gear.

Ever since, Garnacho has been one of our better players and has displayed that adaptability as he now plays as a number 10 instead of out wide. In that position he has done really well and has gotten 4 goals and assists in that position.

With the manager constantly talking about how much Garnacho has improved but that the merit should go to him, it will give the player a lot more confidence to know that the boss trusts him. It also tells INEOS that he is an important player for Amorim and that we shouldn't be selling someone like him.

Mainoo's performance last night was his best for United this season with a lot of that being because of playing as a number 10. We haven't seen him play in that position for United before but a lot of fans have been saying that that is perhaps the reason as to why he's been underperforming this season.

It seems that Amorim agrees as he too, as he says that it's as simple as a change of role for Mainoo that could see an improvement in performances. I feel like he could start him in that position on Sunday.

So like the manager, I also don't think it has anything to do with his future that has caused these drops in performances. Hinting that too much football could also play a part in these lackluster displays is something else that fans have been saying could be causing him to look out of sorts.

It's almost as if Amorim is one of us with a lot of what he says. Either that or he is just smart, like us 😁.

I think Amorim is saying 'I don't want to sell these players' without saying 'I don't want to sell these players' when talking about Mainoo and Garnacho.

He is always talking about how good and important they are to his team which is something he mentioned again. They are exactly the type of players we need in our team due to their quality but also age as Mainoo is 19 and Garnacho is 20, still loads of developing to come.

The fact that they are up for sale is terrible for United in so many ways so with Amorim repeatedly saying he wants players like them in his team, he's telling his bosses to NOT sell them.

Look at how they played last night. Brilliant.

And we're looking to sell that.

I guess we are improving the academy by bringing in players like Obi-Martin and Heaven but what's the point if in a few years we look to sell them?

As for Malacia, I don't think he's good enough. Of course his year long injury will have affected him in many ways and hopefully he can find some form soon but for the moment, he doesn't seem to be United quality.

I do feel sorry for him because it is obviously difficult and he does lack any attacking prowess so I can't see him playing much football under Amorim. With Shaw soon to be back from injury and Dorgu coming in, I doubt he'll have many opportunities to play.

Maybe a loan could be a good option for Malacia.

Yeah, I can talk and talk and talk about the things I love, like football and United, as you can see in this post. Once I get on a roll, it's pretty hard to stop me. This is all coming from a guy who doesn't talk that much. How weird.
