Fabrizio Romano dropped some news related to the young MUFC winger regarding his future.

Romano says that Greek club Panathinaikos are "in advanced talks with Man Utd to sign Facundo Pellistri on permanent transfer."

He adds that the deal isn't finalized yet but negotiations are ongoing with the player's potential exit coming in the next few days.

Final Thoughts

I'm a fan of Pellistri's. I think he is a player with potential but has never really been given a proper run in the side.

I believe that he has the attributes of a more traditional wide player which one could argue is what we need rather than today's more inverted, cut in and shoot type winger.

Nevertheless, my gut always told me that manager Erik ten Hag was never a fan of the young man's as he never really saw him as a player that would suit his style. He would instead opt for Rashford, Garnacho, Antony, more recently Amad and at times even Jadon Sancho ahead of the Uruguayan.

Speaking of his nationality, Pellistri is a regular for his country which shows that he has some quality as to get into the national first-team considering the talent Uruguay possess, is no easy feat.

This is what gave us the hope that perhaps he had some future at United even if he had to play second fiddle. The club instead sent him on loan a couple of times to Alaves (twice) and then Grenada last season.

United bought him in 2020 yet he's only played 25 games for the club scoring none and assisting 2. His contract expires next year but has an option for a further year.

I understand that he wants to go and play regular first-team football but with all due respect, he is better than the Greek league. I think he could go and play for a decent side in Italy like Bologna - the club from whom we bought Joshua Zirkzee - where there have been links to him.

I would prefer to keep him than Sancho tbh.

Whatever the outcome, I hope that it all goes well for him in the rest of his career.

Yeah, I can talk and talk and talk about the things I love, like football and United, as you can see in this post. Once I get on a roll, it's pretty hard to stop me. This is all coming from a guy who doesn't talk that much. How weird.
