Jadon Sancho Chelsea swap deal?!

Outta nowhere

I really don't understand this deal either.

But reports have been circulating that apparently United and Chelsea have spoken about a potential Sancho swap deal for not one but two CFC players: Raheem Sterling and Ben Chilwell.

WTF?!

I know, right?

Gianluca Di Marzio is saying that "Chelsea could include Raheem Sterling and Ben Chilwell in a swap deal offer for Jadon Sancho", via mufcmpb.

This is a bit surprising as it looked for all the money that Sancho had a good chance of moving to Juventus but that his wages were the problem holding that potential deal back.

Now with Chelsea entering the race, we know that they do have the money when looking at how they spend and if we do do this swap deal, that will mean that the funds for his transfer (if they do end up paying a fee) and for his wages, shouldn't be a problem.

However, Fabrizio Romano has come out and said that "Chelsea are NOT in active negotiations for Jadon Sancho, as of last night. Tonight [25/08], the club in negotiations for Sancho is Juventus", via JuveFC.

So two contradictory reports there but it's clear that Sancho looks to be heading OUT of Old Trafford. Where to, remains to be seen.

Final Thoughts

I don't like this potential swap with Chelsea. I think the deal actually works out better for them than for us because they remove two players that they don't want and while they have 328 wingers/wide forwards, they seem to want to another in Sancho who could be this potential replacement for Sterling.

But for United, to be getting players like Sterling and Chilwell sounds good on paper, but when you delve into it, they're not much different from what we already have.

Sterling is kind of like another Sancho. A bit problematic when looking at his recent statement, he is also on high wages and has underperformed at Chelsea. One has to also take into consideration that he's played for THREE of our rivals in the Blues, Man City and Liverpool.

To be having a player with those clubs on his CV is probably not going to go down well with the United faithful and all MUFC fans.

Ben Chilwell is just another Luke Shaw. He too is very injury prone and nor do I think he's as good as Shaw. Shaw, when available, is one of the best left-backs in football. Chilwell, not so much.

While we're in need of a left-back, we cannot be this desperate to bring in another unreliable player in that position.

And why are we looking at Chelsea rejects? There's a reason as to why their club don't want them so maybe that should be an indication that we should steer clear of them as well?

Sancho is also 24 whereas Sterling in pushing 30. Jadon was also a Chelsea fan growing up so they would be getting in a player who already likes the club. As we know, Sterling has been involved with our major rivals so that could already be an issue.

Two for one sounds nice but let's be real, this is a stupid deal for United.

I'd rather Sancho go to Juventus.

If he does, we know we will be receiving some money for him (even if it's not the £72m we spent on him) but compared to a swap deal where we will probably receive no fee, something is better than nothing.

The fact that Romano is saying that negotiations are between Sancho and Juventus and not Sancho and Chelsea makes me feel better about his impending departure.

Between Romano and Di Marzio, I think it's fair to say that most would rather trust Romano over his Italian counterpart. This doesn't mean that Romano is absolutely correct and that Di Marzio is absolutely wrong, but I would go with what Mr 'Here we go' is saying.

However, the common denominator is that Jadon Sancho is likelier to leave MUFC than stay when looking at these reports. That is the most important thing as we cannot be having a player with that high a wage, that poor an attitude and not being involved with games at all.

Sancho was seen traveling with United to the game against Brighton yet wasn't in the squad. It's plain to see that Erik ten Hag doesn't favour the winger even if they've 'drawn the line and moved on' when it comes to their issues, according to the manager.

What do you think about all this news? Would you welcome a swap for Sancho and Sterling and Chilwell? Or would you rather see him go to Juventus?

Yeah, I can talk and talk and talk about the things I love, like football and United, as you can see in this post. Once I get on a roll, it's pretty hard to stop me. This is all coming from a guy who doesn't talk that much. How weird.
