Same old, same old from United. And for more than just the score line against the Cherries.

This was the exact same outcome as in this fixture last season in which United lost 3-0 at home to Bournemouth.

Other than the score line, the same silly mistakes from Amorim's team caused him to lose back-to-back home league games in what was just his sixth Premier League match. This means that the Portuguese now has a record of 7 points out of a possible 18. This defeat also marks the first time that MUFC will finish in the bottom half of the league at Christmas since the 89/90 campaign.

As for the performance itself, I don't know what to say. Literally because I was a little sick and was out for the day but who'd have thought that that would've been a blessing in disguise.

But from what I did see, United appeared slow and flat from the start which doesn't set a good tone for a game. This can allow the opposition to be on the front foot whilst you struggle to get going. This lack of energy lasted all match as well.

It was also a very boring game which is something that I've started to notice with United in recent weeks too as we can be a bit lifeless and dull. Half an hour in though, things change.

I didn't think it was a foul by Malacia who was surprisingly included in the starting XI. But that doesn't mean we need to switch off when it comes to defending the cross.

At this point though, I don't think we switch off, I think we're just not switched on giving the opponents an easy goal from a set piece/cross.

A pretty routine ball comes into the box but no one gets tight enough to the eventual scorer Dean Huijsen who had an easy header that he steered into the net.

1-0 Bournemouth and the same issues that gave us problems before resurface. All the anxiety people may have had ahead of this game came rushing back.

‍

United then started to get into things and ended the half quite strongly with Bruno and Amad being the main threats. Unfortunately, neither of them could get us back to level terms before the break.

This momentum going into halftime would've been a positive for Amorim as at least there was something that he could build upon.

I didn't watch most of the second half but when I did glance at the score, it was 3-0!

‍

Mazraoui of all players gives away a silly penalty which Justin Kluivert converts with Bournemouth's third coming from another area of weakness of United's and that is the cutback. Antoine Semenyo with the killer blow just 2 minutes after Kluivert's penalty.

There was still 30 minutes remaining.

This indicates another second half capitulation from United not long after the restart.

Ruben Amorim also made changes just 10 minutes into the second period with both Hojlund and Garnacho coming on to replace Zirkzee and Ugarte. Malacia was taken off at halftime.

While Yoro looked decent at the back and Hojlund and Garnacho did inject some life into United's game, it wasn't enough as MUFC were defeated at home in a deserved win for the Cherries.

‍

Ruben Amorim would've been having a bout of de ja vu as this type of performance and results has become all too familiar for both him and his permanent predecessor Erik ten Hag.

He didn't look happy all game and hasn't looked happy for much of his tenure at Old Trafford. Amorim is constantly seen prowling the touchline or crouching but having a despaired (and sometimes even disbelief) look on his face.

The manager keeps saying that he knows it will be a tough job and a long journey but I don't think he expected it to be this tough and a journey that would take longer than he'd like.

The highs of the derby victory were taken away just like that as in the past couple of days, we conceded 4 stupid goals to Spurs to lose 4-3 and get knocked out of the Carabao Cup, and then lose 3-0 at home to Bournemouth.

There was nothing positive to take from this game.

I don't know what to rate them other than shite.

Final Thoughts

I actually felt that this game was one where I'd look at the manager more than any other. This doesn't mean that I don't back him or that he's not good enough, nor does it mean that I'm making any excuses for the players but I think that Amorim is rotating a little too much.

I understand that rotation is needed but I think he's gone a little too far. Every game it's super difficult to know who he's going to pick and I don't think that that is necessarily a good thing.

After 9 games at the helm, he should have a settled team that we more or less know who is going to start for particular games. This is a problem that I had with ten Hag in that he would rotate certain players all the time while selecting the same ones over and over to a point where they look burnt out, and also that he would pick a strong team for games where you'd think that a weaker team should get a runout.

Amorim selected a strong lineup at Spurs as six of the same players who began the Derby the previous Sunday started against Spurs the following Thursday. All of Bruno, Martinez, Mazraoui and Dalot started and played the full game today.

Surely he could've rotated them for the Spurs game which ended in defeat anyway? A rotated or 'weaker' team was one more apt for that match compared to that strong lineup from the start.

But even still, whoever he picks for any game should be ones that are good enough to go out there and perform to a point that is much more respectable than this.

‍

That was an absolutely diabolical performance and one that we've seen far too many times already. Something as we've known, is not right with that squad. I can't understand how we went from a deserved derby win to this.

I don't even know what to say anymore. It is much the same more often than not.

‍

This was the third 3-0 loss at home in the league this season as Liverpool, Spurs and Bournemouth have walked away from Old Trafford with a clean sheet, 3 goals and 3 points.

Even the stadium leaks returned as during Amorim's post-match press conference, a video by Samuel Luckhurst showed some water dripping into the front row of seats requiring some journalists to relocate.

More embarrassment from a club that is already in a shambles.

Yeah, I can talk and talk and talk about the things I love, like football and United, as you can see in this post. Once I get on a roll, it's pretty hard to stop me. This is all coming from a guy who doesn't talk that much. How weird.
