And deservedly too.

Is this just us? Are we just a mid-table of the bottom half of the table team?

Probably.

Embarrassing. Deflating. Shitting on the badge. Waste of time. Why do we even bother?

Really I don't know what to say.

Amorim was coming into this one on the back of three good results but results can mask performances as the win over Southampton was not the best of displays from his side. We should've lost that game. In the fist half, that's how bad we were against the worst side in Premier League history.

So should we play like that in our next game against a good side who do have our number, chances are we will lose and lose comfortably.

We played in the same manner as we did against the worst side in Premier League history and deservedly lost to a good team who's had our number.

Regardless of who the manager selected, we knew that this was going to be a tough game because Brighton are a good side. But more than that, they wanted it. They gave EVERYTHING they had and when you pair this with good football, you will win especially when coming up against a side who don't even show up.

United produced another horrendous performance but one that we shouldn't surprised with. I guess everyone's hopes were up after the two performances and results against the hardest teams (Liverpool and Arsenal) and then the high of a late hat-trick will always get you going, meant that we felt a bit more confident that MUFC would do something in this match.

But more fool us as it was exactly the opposite.

Amorim's side reverted to their usual self of not trying, playing slow, not setting the tempo, creating nothing in attack and not showing any of the urgency, energy and fight that we displayed so well in that heroic victory over Arsenal.

The quality is lacking as well as far too many players are simply not good enough. The worst part is, Amorim is picking a lot of players that I think a lot of us like and believe could be part of the future of this club.

But it's clear that there's more to it than just personnel.

5 minutes in and Brighton score.

I'm tempted to say game over from this point.

A simple ball over the top and in behind Mazraoui (who had another poor game), saw Mitoma in space and time before he played a simple cross for Minteh who scored a tap-in.

United did show some improvement from that point but it was another game with a poor start and another where we conceded the first goal, something we've about 37 times in 22 games.

I know that doesn't make sense but you get my meaning.

Midway through the first half, Amad pressed really well in the final third which saw the ball end up at the feet of Zirkzee - who made his first start since the Newcastle game - who tried to create space for a shot at goal but was fouled from behind.

Penalty to United and the captain does the rest.

At this point, we all thought that maybe we could get some kind of reaction from the players.

We didn't. At all.

That penalty was the only shot on target in the entire game.

Yes, you read that correctly.

Brighton continued to play their game and absolutely controlled the match. While the rest of the first period was pretty even, it was clear that there was only one side who knew what they were doing.

The second half continued in the same manner as the first as Brighton took the initiative once again.

And similarly to the first half, had the ball in the back of the net after some really poor and unconvincing defending from United from a poor free-kick. Failure to properly clear their lines meant that Joao Pedro slotted the ball home but after a VAR review, the referee gave a foul on Dalot which gave United some relief.

Still though, it didn't take Brighton that long to retake the lead as Mitoma put the ball in at the back post after a cross wasn't properly defended by United.

The Japanese showing more desire than Mazraoui to get the ball despite the defender being ahead of the attacker.

2-1 and this is where the game was truly lost.

Fabian Hurzeler's team were full value for their lead and unlucky to not have been further ahead.

Amorim had to make some changes and he did so with Garnacho and Collyer coming on for Mainoo and Ugarte. Another game where the midfield was completely changed and two early subtitutions for those two.

Not a good sign for the midfield.

None of the changes actually made any difference as United couldn't gather any rhythm or momentum nor could they get the ball to Amad who is our deadliest player. Even Garnacho saw very little of the ball.

This was down to that slow tempo, lack of urgency and Brighton defending well which left the home side lacking ideas.

However, Onana in goal decided he wanted to be part of the action and gave us a reminder that he is shite as well.

Some good football from the away side down the right gave them the opportunity to cross the ball. It was a nothing ball with it being a routine gather for the goalkeeper.

Well, it should've been.

But in true Onana fashion, he proves that once again, he isn't a goalie that we can trust because just as he can save us in one game he can pretty much lose us the game in the next.

He parries the ball into the feet of Rutter who had the easy task of going around Onana and scoring in an empty net.

If the game wasn't already over before, it was definitely over now. Any hopes United may have had of getting back in the game ended.

And so did the match as Brighton picked up their third straight victory at Old Trafford. Only City have managed to do that.

The only negative thing I'd say about the manager is that perhaps he is overplaying some players. I do believe there are times when Amorim could rotate or even substitute players earlier in games but he doesn't.

On the other hand, the possible replacements are even worse.

He has been dealt such a tough hand and with the club seemingly not backing him this window and allowing a lot of the shit to stay, more games like this will come.

Ruben Amorim: "We are being the worst team maybe in the history of #mufc, we have to acknowledge that."

Yeah, I can talk and talk and talk about the things I love, like football and United, as you can see in this post. Once I get on a roll, it's pretty hard to stop me. This is all coming from a guy who doesn't talk that much. How weird.
