I don't think many cared about the performance as all we wanted was a win. Even Ruben Amorim was talking about that before the match saying that he just wants the 3 points.
But not only did we get that much-needed victory, we didn't actually play too badly either in what was a pretty weird game.
β
Nevertheless, United and specifically Onana do what they've seemed to have done all season and that is cock up straight away. Just 4 minutes in and miscommunication between the 'keeper and Dorgu meant that the defender played a blind backpass resulting in a tap-in for Ipswich.
As bad a start as we could get just adding to the already high nerves.
β
Luckily, that didn't deter us as we managed to keep our heads and not crumble, as has been a habit for a long time.
What was even better was that United got back into it not long after going behind as an own goal by the Ipswich skipper Morsy brought us back to level terms.
Perhaps they were feeling sorry for us because they know we're also struggling and our strikers can't score.
Fair play to them for looking out for fellow relegation battlers π.

β
Things improved even further still as De Ligt pounced on a ball in the box after another good delivery by Bruno who was having a better game today than he did at Everton. Our Dutch defender showing our strikers how it's done.
That was his second strike of the campaign and gave us the lead which put everyone at ease.
The game was going somewhat according to plan from that point on until disaster.
After having a part to play in Ipswich's opener, new signing Dorgu, who recovered well from that early error, was then shown a striaght red after his attempt to win the ball back was deemed dangerous due to his follow through in which his studs were showing before catching Hutchinson on the shin.
The referee was told to take a look on the monitor after which he made the call to send the Dane off and if I'm honest, there can be no complaints about it.
It was a red.
As it was a straight sending off, Dorgu will miss the next three domestic games (Fulham, Arsenal, Leicester).
This obviously made things harder as Amorim was forced into an early change as Garnacho had to be sacrificed for Mazraoui.
β
You know how I mentioned bad habits earlier?
That returned as not long after that sending off and just when you need your team to keep their heads for a little longer as halftime wasn't far away, we go and concede another preventable goal.
Onana not dealing with a cross which went straight into the net. This came just 3 minutes after Dorgu was given his marching orders.
Going into the break, we were all disappointed with how that first half panned out in terms of the goals conceded and red card. All things that were avoidable.
β
Amorim needed something similar to what he saw from his players in the win over Arsenal.
That is exactly what he got as another defender in Maguire stepped up to score from a corner with a bullet header to put United back in the lead just 2 minutes after the restart.
3-2 and we were happy again despite most of the half remaining.
β
However, Ipswich didn't put up much of a fight for the rest of the match which was surprising and in the end, the game sort of faded out, not like we're complaining.
Amorim finally gets the win he was waiting for as United end the bad run of three league games without victory. This win also meant that we move up into 14th after Everton's draw at Brentford.
Whilst there were a good few elements to the performance that the manager will not have been happy with, there were more positives to take from this game than in recent times.
The fightback shown by the players upon going behind (again), not crumbling after going down to 10 men and then managing to win the game even though things weren't looking good.
What I do think Amorim will be really disappointed with though, is that before the match, he was talking about how he wants his side to start off better and not need a moment to spark us into life. That is what happened again with Ipswich's opener, the red card and their equalizer. All things that got us going.
Other than that, this was one of the better performances from United in the past month or so.

Final Thoughts
This clearly was a game between two relegation sides when looking at the quality of the 90 minutes. The way we played despite the character, was not actually amazing although it was a hell of a lot better than what we've been seeing recently which is saying something. Ipswich were poor all game as we gifted them 2 goals and they didn't really put us under pressure despite the man advantage.
Obviously happy with the win because I think us fans deserve it more than anyone for having to put up with this shit and is now hopefully something to build upon with the fight and determination shown as well as getting the 3 points. This can give us some momentum moving forward because we'll need it.
