We're winning the league. Ruben Amorim is Ruben AmorHIM.
Wham, bam, thank you ma'am β.
If anyone says otherwise, you're deluded π .
β
But on a serious, that turned out to be the perfect afternoon for United and their new Portuguese manager. That is back-to-back home wins for Amorim in which he's seen his side score 7 goals and that is also two wins and a draw in his first three matches.
Not a bad start to life at Old Trafford.
The score line may suggest a very, very comfortable day for the Red Devils but it was anything but.
The home side started off pretty well with another rotated lineup from the manager but unlike his opening two games, didn't grab a goal within the first two minutes.
Something was amiss.
β
Despite that good start though, Everton started to grow into the game and had a couple of chances of their own after Amad missed a great opportunity to put United in the lead as he was played in beautifully by Zirkzee, who started his first game under Amorim.
Sean Dyche's side became a lot more confident as they began to sort of control proceedings. There was even a point where they had 70% possession for 5 minutes!
70% possession?! For a Dyche team? Unheard of.
This dominance from the Toffees led to a great chance for Beto who was preferred to Dominic Calvert-Lewin up top. A ball in behind saw him out-pace De Ligt and get to the ball ahead of an onrushing Onana before putting his shot into the side netting.
A let off for United.
β
This proved costly for Everton as although they had the better chances, it was Ruben's Reds who took the lead, somewhat against the run of play.
A different corner routine from captain Bruno saw him spear a pass to Rashford on the edge of the box who hit it on the half-volley before Jarrad Branthwaite diverted the ball into his own net. As it was on target, the goal was given to MR10.
That was a goal that was needed for MUFC as they looked a little shaken by Everton until that point.
However, once that went in, there was no looking back as United went on to control the game and grab a few more goals.
β
Just before halftime, the second arrived from another player who needed a goal. Great pressure from Amad allowed him to get the ball off Man Utd target Branthwaite (who was trying to get an early transfer to Old Trafford with his performance) before he played a simple pass to Bruno who squared it to Zirkzee who made it 2-0 with an easy side-foot finish.
That was the Dutchman's second for United, his first since the opening day.
2-0 quickly became 3-0 as Rashford scored within a minute of the second period. United win the ball back after goalkeeper Jordan Pickford pumped it long only for Casemiro to win the header and get United going forward again.
Another wonderful ball from Zirkzee out wide to Amad got him in down the right. Rashford made the run ahead and Amad once again, obliged to play a simple pass to the doctor who put it through his England team-mate's legs to make it 3.
Game, set and match.
2 goals that were absolutely needed for Rashford.
β
Amorim then started to ring the changes as both Maguire and Shaw came on for De Ligt and Mazraoui. The manager with his sights set ahead to the game at The Emirates on Wednesday night.
The home side then went into game manage mode but were still hungry for more.
Amad again showing great pressure as he won the ball this time off the other centre-back James Tarkowski and similarly to his assist for Rashford, he played another easy pass to Zirkzee who was in space and this time, he passed it into the net to make it 4-0.
β
The game was truly done and dusted at this point.
Amorim then brought off Bruno and Casemiro for Garnacho and Ugarte to keep them fresh for Arsenal. His final change saw Mount come on for Mainoo who played his first minutes since September.
β
And so the game ended with Amorim beating Dyche 4-0 in a relatively routine win. Just what the doctor ordered. Not a hardworking, grinding victory but one that would've been welcome by the MUFC boss and players ahead of what will be a tough test in mid-week.
I don't think Amorim would've been too happy with what he saw for about 25 minutes when Everton were the better side but after that first goal, he would've been really pleased with how his side managed to put the foot on the gas, grab a few more goals and see out the game.
That game management from United has been a problem for a while so it was good to see that we kept our heads.
What the manager has also been doing really well is rotating the team. Given the hectic schedule, he's managed to keep a lot of players fresh whilst giving others a chance and also managing to pick up wins.
Despite this rotation, it seems that the entire squad is getting accustomed to his style and system, at least for the moment.
The performances in particular of Rashford, Zirkzee and Bruno would've also put a smile on the manager's face as those three have come under a lot of criticism as of late.
A good day at the office for Amorim. He'd be hoping for more come Arsenal.

Final Thoughts
Didn't start off as well as I thought. Ended better than I anticipated.
It was a good game from United. Really nice to see Zirkzee and Rashford especially get a couple of goals as they needed it for their confidence. To also see us get 4 goals was nice as we don't see that too often.
Another clean sheet on top of that does nicely too.
It's also good for once that we didn't have too many average to shit performances and the fact that it was difficult to pick a man of the match. That is usually the other way round.
β
What I like about Amorim is that he also seems to be doing the simple things correctly, mainly the substitutions and their timings.
However, let's not get carried away with this. We've seen this from the team before where they have this new manager bounce only for it to end quick, fast and in a hurry. Let's enjoy the wins especially when they come like this but also take it one game at a time.
But we're winning the World Cup.
