Given that we've taken a bit of a breather in football, I thought it would be a good time to drop my lists for who I would keep and who I'd get rid of.

Some would say that we should be looking to sell them all but that would be unrealistic even if it isn't entirely untrue.

We had the recent news of players wanting the manager to tweak his playing style in order for him to get the best out of them.

What a load of shite πŸ’©.

We've heard this several times in the past and we're not falling for it again. It was the same excuse they had with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, Ralf Rangnick and Erik ten Hag before Ruben Amorim.

I'm not exactly sure what system they would like to play because they were crap with four at the back. The start of the season saw ten Hag get off to a terrible start and was part of the reason as to why we find ourself in this current situation of 13th in the table and struggling for form. He played a 4-2-3-1.

The players didn't actually show any form under the Dutchman so this statement makes little and less sense.

Who is complaining is unknown but as it is the same excuse that we've heard for so many years, one can start to put 2 and 2 together.

For this reason, we need to remove A LOT of players from the squad.

Here are my lists then. Some choices may shock you 🀯.

‍

Sell

Altay Bayindir

‍

Victor Lindelof

Harry Maguire

Tyrell Malacia

Diogo Dalot

Luke Shaw

Jonny Evans

‍

Mason Mount

Christian Eriksen

Casemiro

‍

Marcus Rashford

Antony

Jadon Sancho

‍

Between Bayindir and Onana, the pair of them appear to be backup goalies at best. For this reason, we can't keep them both and I didn't mention Tom Heaton because I couldn't care less if he stays or not.

Why I would sell Bayindir is because we haven't seen enough of him and at least with Onana, he has played at the top level for a while and probably ticks more of the boxes needed of a modern goalkeeper.

He is shaky and unreliable but it's not as if Bayindir is Peter Schmeichel.

‍

The likes of Lindelof, Maguire, Evans (whose contract is up at the end of the season), Eriksen and Casemiro are all too old, not good enough and aren't part of the future of the club.

Malacia, Shaw and Mount are all unreliable and in Malacia's case, don't think he is the quality we need. It's a pity with Shaw and Mount because they do have the quality but not the reliability.

I feel like Rashford, Antony and Sancho need no explanation because the quality is not there but also, particularly in the cases of Rashford and Sancho, they have poor attitudes. Sancho's comment was a prime example of this.

One cannot question Antony's desire and professionalism it's just he simply doesn't look good enough to play for United. But with his attitude, we're seeing that he can still operate at a relatively high level in Spain.

Good for him.

‍

Dalot is a bit more difficult.

He actually ticks a lot of the boxes but at the moment, he looks a shadow of his former self as to go from player of the season last year to what we've seen this, is nothing short of disappointing.

I know he's playing out of position but to be this bad? That is unacceptable.

He is very reliable as he is always available, is very professional and fit, has the correct character and attitude, but just doesn't look like a United player at the moment.

We also have Mazraoui and Dorgu who can now play in his position/s when needed.

Last season was also one good year in 7 for him at United. Hopefully he can turn things around but for now, he is a sell player for me.

‍

Keep

Andre Onana

‍

Noussair Mazraoui

Matthijs De Ligt

Lisandro Martinez

Patrick Dorgu

Leny Yoro

Ayden Heaven

Harry Amass

‍

Bruno Fernandes

Manuel Ugarte

Kobbie Mainoo

Toby Collyer

Daniel Gore

‍

Rasmus Hojlund

Joshua Zirkzee

Amad

Alejandro Garnacho

Ethan Wheatley

‍

Let's just get the obvious ones out the way.

The new signings both from the summer and in January only just arrived so it would make no sense to let them go. Zirkzee is the only one who could leave because we are still on the fence about him.

Mazraoui and De Ligt have been our two best players so we cannot let them go. They also have the character needed on top of the quality so they have to stay.

Amass, Collyer, Gore and Wheatley are all academy players who have a lot of potential. I would keep them but send them on loan just like Gore and Wheatley are at the moment.

Onana as I said has more experience at the highest level but if we did sell him and kept Bayindir, I wouldn't cry about it. He is a divisive player who can save our bacon but also cost us games. We can't truly rely on him but I would keep him instead.

‍

Martinez is another who is a difficult choice because he is a great defender who is so important to the way we want to play out from the back. I think Amorim also trusts him a lot.

But with his hefty injury issues, he is proving a little unreliable. Martinez has picked up five serious problems in the last 18 months that have kept him out for long periods of time.

Can we rely on a 26-year-old injury prone defender?

I'm keeping him because he is too good despite it being a risk. He is also the butcher which is an awesome nickname. I'd keep him just for that.

‍

Bruno is another tough one because I do like the player but he is so inconsistent it's frustrating. The quality he has should mean a player who is more consistent than he is.

As we know though, when he is on it, he is on it.

He is also experienced and our captain and can be a player/personality that we could use to help when new players come in.

There have also been reports that United are looking for a new midfielder to play as the number 8 allowing Bruno to play further forward in his best position.

The magnifico is also ever-present, gives his all and has the right character to be at United. He does need to be more consistent though.

‍

Mainoo, Amad and Garnacho need no explanation as to why I would keep them. They are exactly what this club is all about and are top players besides.

‍

And finally, Hojlund.

I like Rasmus. I do have a bit of a soft spot for him. I see the qualities in him as he does possess several attributes needed of a striker.

He can hold the ball up, link the play, run the channels, flick it on and get on the end of crosses. Plus he is quite clinical when given the opportunities.

And that is ultimately where strikers are judged: goal scoring.

As we know at United though, we don't create chances. This makes it impossible to score. It is the same issue that Cavani, Ronaldo, Martial and Rashford had when they played as centre-forwards at the club.

However, this season, it is that overall gameplay from the Dane that has been poor. That hold up play is not good enough, he fails to link up with his teammates. One thing that he was good at was running the channels which has for some reason disappeared this season. And with the lack of service, goals are hard to come by.

At 21 though, there is still time for him to develop and hopefully get better although Amorim has reportedly put the striker on trial until the end of the season.

I do believe that should we create the chances for him or Zirkzee, they will score and then we won't have as much of a problem. Getting them that service is the issue though.

Hojlund definitely does need to improve his performances because as much as I back him and will keep him, this is far from acceptable.

‍

Do you agree with my lists? Who would be on your keep and sell lists?

Yeah, I can talk and talk and talk about the things I love, like football and United, as you can see in this post. Once I get on a roll, it's pretty hard to stop me. This is all coming from a guy who doesn't talk that much. How weird.
