While it isn't quite transfer season just yet, there are still a lot of players who are linked with moves to United as well as away from Old Trafford.

Yesterday, we got the news that Real Madrid are considering taking Diogo Dalot from us in case they cannot land their main target Trent Alexander-Arnold. They were looking at a summer move for the Portuguese with a fee around £44m.

However, a new update has suggested that Los Blancos are in desperate need of a right-back in January given their situation in that position.

Peter Hall says that Madrid are looking at a January move worth £50m for the right-back in a bid to bring him to the Bernabeu mid-season with captain Dani Carvajal out with an ACL injury. Hall says that sources have told him that "Dalot is an important part of Amorim's squad, while the player himself is not understood to be seeking a move away from Old Trafford."

There is still uncertainty over whether Alexander-Arnold will stay or leave LFC which is why Los Blancos have begun to look for alternatives to their main right-back target.

Florian Plettenberg mentioned that United are looking at David Raum of RB Leipzig as a possible option at left-back. "There were concrete discussion last summer between both parties and he is considered to be a very good fit for Ruben Amorim’s new system."

The 26-year-old is being 'closely monitored' as a potential left wing-back for United and could work in Ruben Amorim's 3-4-3 formation. His contract expires in 2027 and is currently out with an ankle injury.

We also had it from Plettenberg that United have made "initial concrete talks" with Viktor Gyokeres for a possible move in the summer. But, for MUFC to bring in the Swede, they will need to sell some players first.

The Red Devils will have strong competition from neighbors City as well with Sporting's ex-Sporting Director Hugo Viana taking over from Txiki Begiristain at the Etihad, he wants to bring the 26-year-old to the blue half of Manchester.

Final Thoughts

I wouldn't let Dalot go, and definitely not mid-season. I feel that he still has an important role in the squad as he is a very versatile player and one that we can rely upon in terms of availability.

Yes, he hasn't been performing that well this season despite winning player's player of the year last year which is why I think there are many that wouldn't mind seeing him go. £50m is also a decent sum that the club could use elsewhere.

I would keep Dalot, at least until the end of the season.

Tbh, I don't know much about Raum. I don't know how good he is and whether he would be the type of player we need at left wing-back.

However, we do need a player in that position because with the likes of Dalot, who isn't comfortable on that flank, and the unreliability of Shaw and Malacia, we really are struggling on that side. It is at this moment, our weakest position and one that is at the top of the list in terms of priority areas to strengthen.

We know that Amorim appears desperate for a player for that role so it's understandable that we would be looking all over the place for the ideal man.

As for Gyokeres, he is obviously a top striker and one that we do probably need. But I would like to see how Hojlund and Zirkzee perform until the end of the season. Amorim has also just come in so let's give them all time together before we make our minds up.

I would prefer for Hojlund to be our Gyokeres meaning that we wouldn't actually need to go and get this out-and-out goal scorer. Should the Swede come to United, he would obviously want to play all the time. But so would Hojlund and to an extent Zirkzee although the Dutchman can play a number of positions.

I wouldn't want to have a problem between Hojlund and Gyokeres in terms of that game time. Our Dane has also started off pretty well under Amorim as he had a good all round performance against Bodo/Glimt in which he scored 2 and was the reason for Garnacho's opener thanks to his high pressing.

Zirkzee also performed well in Sunday's 4-0 win over Everton in which he grabbed 2 goals himself. This is why time is needed to be given to all of the two forwards and manager.

Let's see what they can do.

Gyokeres will also cost quite a lot of money so who are we going to let go of in order to bring in such funds?

I wouldn't necessarily mind us signing him but striker is not an area that I'm too concerned about at the moment.

Yeah, I can talk and talk and talk about the things I love, like football and United, as you can see in this post. Once I get on a roll, it's pretty hard to stop me. This is all coming from a guy who doesn't talk that much. How weird.
