Thursday night's important win over PAOK to give United their first win in the Europa League is now history as we move back to domestic action and face the Foxes once again in quick succession.

A full circle moment for Ruud van Nistelrooy as interim manager as this stint started with Leicester and will end with Leicester.

Here's to hoping for him and us all that this game goes the same way as the last. 5-2 in the league would be even better than the Carabao Cup.

However, I don't think it will be quite as straightforward.

Predicted Lineup

Ruud did make a couple of changes on Thursday evening but I suspect a more orthodox team for Leicester's visit.

Evans and Lindelof out for Martinez and De Ligt at centre-back.

I don't think we will see Eriksen return to the starting XI simply because I don't think he is fit enough to play, at least from the start. The same goes for Mount. Casemiro and Ugarte to keep their places.

Amad had an injury scare at the end of that 2-0 victory and it remains to be seen how he will feature in this one, if he does at all. He absolutely deserves it due to his man of the match performance against PAOK grabbing the 2 goals that got us the win. If he's fit, he starts.

The left-wing is a bit more difficult.

Neither of Rashford nor Garnacho has been ripping it up this season although their numbers in terms of goals and assists have been pretty good. But when you look at Amad's overall performances compared to that of Garnacho and Rashford, the Ivorian is better and more consistent.

Garnacho started against PAOK on his preferred left-wing but failed to make an impact. Rashford then came on for the Argentine but he too, did next to nothing.

However, it has been Garnacho who has been favored on the left over Rashford in recent weeks but due to Garnacho's relatively lackluster performances, it's perhaps time to give Rashford a run out on that flank.

Approach

I do believe it will be much the same as we've been seeing under Ruud: not much different to ten Hag.

It has been very similar but without that new manager bounce. The games have been a bit boring even despite the two wins and a draw with 8 goals being scored. The overall display from the players has been very flat.

With it being Ruud's final game in charge (and possibly final game ever as MUFC manager) I'm sure that he and the players will want to give him a great sendoff.

United need to show a lot more energy from the start and all the way through. That has been an issue all campaign as we have this stupid habit of beginning very slowly. What we showed in the second half against PAOK is more what we need from the start.

Leicester this time round won't be as weak in terms of their lineup so we should be expecting them to be a lot better. Start slowly and they could punish us.

As with United, going behind can always be a problem even if it is at Old Trafford. The first goal will be crucial as in all of Ruud's three games in charge, his side has taken the lead.

It would be interesting to see whether we can come back if we do go behind.

We can expect United to have more of the ball than Leicester with them looking to counter us. This might mean having to break down a tough defence, something that we really struggle with.

This is why players like Eriksen and Amad will be important (if they play) because they keep it simple and are patient, rotate the ball and look to keep attacks going.

Others like Garnacho, Bruno and Rashford are a lot more rash in their play without that patience and ability to keep it simple. Failure to do so will play into Leicester's hands and give the ball away stupidly.

I also would like to see the full-backs be a little more attacking. We don't see it enough where they go down the line and are involved in attacks especially Mazraoui.

Despite his great performances this season, going forward has been a little bit underwhelming as compared to Dalot, the Moroccan isn't as adventurous. I think it's time we start seeing an attacking output from the full-backs even more so with Amorim coming in.

With this predicted XI, the partnership between Dalor and Rashford will continue as the pair have been working together a lot recently even if it was down the right.

Keeping these partnerships going is always important as the relationships improve. Full-backs and wingers usually have a good understanding with each other and we need to see that more at United.

Form

United did move up the table into 13th after last week's 1-1 draw with Chelsea. We now have 12 points but maintain a negative goal difference of -3 after having scored just the 9 goals all season. Only 4 of those have come at Old Trafford.

In our last five games, we've drawn two, lost two and won one. That win over Brentford was our only win in our last seven league games.

Yikes 😬.

In the home table, the record is bleak as well as MUFC also lie in 13th. Five games, two wins, one draw, two losses is not a great return. Even worse, the goal difference is at -7!

Leicester

The Foxes are 2 points and two spots behind us in the table. They have 10 points from their ten matches with two wins, four draws and four losses and have a -4 GD. However, while that is worse than ours, Steve Cooper's men have scored 4 more goals than United, 14 to 9.

Their recent form is also better than United's as they've won two of their last five compared to our one. But similarly to MUFC, Leicester also drew 1-1 in their previous match to Ipswich.

We should be expecting a much stronger lineup from Cooper compared to that of the Carabao Cup tie which saw pretty much their B team face United.

This leads me to believe that this match will be a lot harder than what United came up against last week.

They will make it tough for us especially in defence. Being at Old Trafford, Cooper will know that the initiative will be on United which can work in their favor as it can create spaces for them to exploit.

United have for a long time struggled against low blocks or just defensive teams in general and with large gaps in midfield, there will definitely be areas for Leicester to take advantage of. Casemiro and Ugarte aren't the quickest and are also very prone to giving away silly fouls. In his 10 matches for his new club, Ugarte has already picked up 3 yellow cards and committed quite a lot of fouls.

Jamie Vardy's pace on the break will be an area where United need to watch out for because he is much faster than our centre-backs. He can also be a bit of a knob which can be irritating as well.

Recent Meetings

United have won all of the last three meetings in all comps but the last time Leicester did beat MUFC was in the 4-2 game in the 21/22 season. That was the third of three wins in a row for the Foxes during a pretty good spell.

The previous season (20/21) was the last time they managed to get victory at Old Trafford.

Prediction

With the way we've been playing and the fact that Leicester should be a lot stronger, I can see another drab draw. 2-2 is what I predict.

Hopefully not and hopefully our players give Ruud a good sendoff but I really can't see it happening.

What do you reckon will happen in Ruud's final game as interim?

Yeah, I can talk and talk and talk about the things I love, like football and United, as you can see in this post. Once I get on a roll, it's pretty hard to stop me. This is all coming from a guy who doesn't talk that much. How weird.
