Man Utd v Rangers preview

What should we expect this time?

To be honest, I don't know what to expect from United. Nobody does. I don't think even Amorim knows either.

After reports of him being furious in the dressing room post the Brighton defeat in which he destroyed the dressing room (literally), although I'm not sure how he didn't lose his shit earlier, the manager will be hoping to not have to smash TVs post this game as well.

But another match brings a whole bunch of other problems. Hopefully a competition change could see something different however, with the always energetic Scots coming to Old Trafford, Rangers will really be up for this one.

Here we go again 😐.

Predicted Lineup

At this point, Amorim may as well start the academy.

Actually hol up on that, the club may sell our academy players as that is what we do now.

So the manager will have to go with some of the shit from the weekend.

Bayindir in goal for Onana should be for the rest of the season not just for tonight.

As this is a game the manager wants to win knowing that it means we're straight into the round of 16 and avoid two extra play-off games, I don't think Amorim will rotate too much.

There are also only a certain amount of players he can actually trust, even if at the moment, they aren't performing.

Maguire, Martinez and De Ligt as back three. Mazraoui and Dalot down the flanks. Ugarte and Mainoo in midfield with Bruno, Amad and Zirkzee up front.

That's as strong as he can go in my opinion and more than that, these are probably a group of players that he might feel he has more confidence in to go out there and actually try although a lot of them did play on Sunday resulting in that explosion in the dressing room.

So as I said at the start, I don't know what he's going to do.

Approach

Even here, what do we do?

We can all give our tactics and 'this guy needs to move there and he needs to come in when that happens and we have to start off really well' but it depends on those players. Even Maguire was saying so yesterday in the presser that it is on the players as individuals that they have to do better. He's right as the manager can only do so much.

Old Trafford seems to be a ground where we struggle altogether with the manager saying that the players are "too nervous" in possession when playing at home as we've lost four of the last five games in the league so even though it's at the Theatre, this doesn't mean anything.

United really have to go out there and just show up.

While the quality may not be what we need with all our players, I do believe that if the players can turn up, then we should be good enough to win.

That's all it is with this group because look what we did at Liverpool and Arsenal. That was the same team.

Honestly though, it's anybody's guess.

Form

United are 7th in the Europa League table and will NOT be out of the competition regardless of the result as we are guaranteed to be in the play-off round after 12 points from six games.

We've won our last three in a row putting us in this position of looking good for qualification.

That last win though, was not easy as we had to come from behind to beat Viktoria Plzen thanks to 2 goals from the bench by Rasmus Hojlund, his last goals for the club.

United are also one of five unbeaten sides in the competition so at least we got that going for us.

Rangers

The Scots are actually one spot and 1 point behind United in the table. 8th and 11 points after three wins, two draws and one loss in their six matches.

That single defeat they suffered was a 4-1 loss at home to Lyon. But some of their best results include a 1-1 draw with Spurs (something we haven't managed to do against them in two games this season) and a 4-1 win against Sir Jim Ratcliffe's former club, Nice.

Rangers have also scored more (13) than United (12) and conceded one fewer (7) than us as well.

United and Rangers faced each other not so long ago as the sides did battle in pre-season. Erik ten Hag's Red Devils beat the Scots 2-0 at Murrayfield Stadium in July.

Rangers have a great chance to get something at Old Trafford considering how poor and low we are as a club. Should they come with their typical Scottish energy, then this game may go their way.

Prediction

This is a very short preview as I don't think anyone knows what we are going to get from the United players.

All Rangers will have to do is give a shit and that could be enough.

I feel like this could be a 1-1 draw simply because our quality may bail us out while their lack of quality compared to us may restrict them from getting anything more.

Yeah, I can talk and talk and talk about the things I love, like football and United, as you can see in this post. Once I get on a roll, it's pretty hard to stop me. This is all coming from a guy who doesn't talk that much. How weird.
