Most of them aren't even first-team regulars

The Daily Mail have released a list of the top 10 earners at MUFC. The crazy thing is it's not just the high and ridiculous amounts that are spent on these players per week but rather on who that is alarming.

Full List:

Casemiro - £375,000

Bruno Fernandes - £375,000

Marcus Rashford - £350,000

Mason Mount - £250,000

Antony - £200,000

Matthijs de Ligt - £195,000

Harry Maguire - £190,000

Christian Eriksen - £150,000

Luke Shaw - £150,000

Victor Lindelof - £120,000

This is for the current season.

When looking at the team that screwed us on Sunday, their top earners are:

Mo Salah - £350,000

Virgil van Dijk - £220,000

Trent Alexander-Arnold - £180,000

Andy Robertson - £160,000

Alexis Mac Allister - £150,000

Federico Chiesa - £150,000

Alisson - £150,000

Ryan Gravenberch - £150,000

Diogo Jota - £140,000

Darwin Nunez - £140,000

This is an average wage bill of £105,000 per week.

United's is an average of £124,959 per week, via Capology.

Final Thoughts

I mean,

yeah.

Pretty eye-opening, ain't it?

I know that a lot of the world knew that our wage bill was high but when looking at the quality of player and those who actually make the first team, these wages make for some bad reading on the club's part.

This has nothing to do with INEOS as other than De Ligt, the rest of this list were here before their arrival. The only other player that they've been involved with is Bruno Fernandes as he signed a new contract recently.

But let's go through that list, shall we.

Casemiro on £375k-a-week. He plays more for the opposition than for United when looking at his latest performance. He's been shite for a season. Casemiro should be dropped for Manuel Ugarte.

Bruno Fernandes probably deserved a raise considering his exploits since his arrival in 2020 and the wages of some of his team-mates but £375k is way too much even for a player of his quality.

Marcus Rashford at £350k, good Lord! I mean this guy himself probably asks the question as to how he plays so much. Garnacho and Amad are both better than him at the moment and should start ahead of him.

Mason Mount at £250k. Guy is the new Luke Shaw. So far, he's been a waste. Did start the season off well but I don't see where he fits into this team and he is right now, unreliable.

Ballon d'Or winner Antony (IYKYK) hasn't even played a minute this season despite being a player the manager desperately wanted two years ago. Another waste of £200k-a-week.

De Ligt at £195k isn't too bad considering his experience and quality. This one is one that I can get around. He should be starting though. Not sure why he is a rotational player with the man next on this list,

Harry Maguire. £190k-a-week for a fourth-choice centre-back. Yes, I believe Maguire is behind Martinez, De Ligt and Yoro. How he is one of the highest earners makes no sense even more so when he isn't that good.

Christian Eriksen is somehow on here as well. Similarly to Antony, we haven't seen much of the Dane this season. He came on for a few minutes against Liverpool for what exactly? He wasn't going to do anything and is another player who isn't a first-team regular.

Luke Shaw is a first-team player, whenever fit that is. Shaw hasn't featured for United since February even though he went and played for England at the Euros. For that reason he should be moved on. £150k for an injury prone player is ridiculous.

And finally, at £120k-a-week is the Iceman, Victor Lindelof. He too hasn't played this season and is even further down the pecking order when it comes to centre-backs than Maguire. Lindelof needed to be sold. The Swede is also injured. Of course.

Seven of those players aren't or shouldn't be first-team players. You could argue that Luke Shaw shouldn't be either because of his unavailability and that captain Fernandes can sometimes put in performances where he asks to be dropped.

In a way, only ONE of the top 10 earners at United should be considered a starter, and he isn't actually starting. De Ligt is also a new player.

Incredible.

This tells you exactly what was wrong with our previous regime.

Tbh, I'm not a fan of the wages given to footballers. Yes I know that they're responsible for bringing in large crowds and audiences across the globe but really, it is just kicking a ball. Most of them don't even do it well. United in particular don't actually play a style that is entertaining which is exactly what football is all about.

Sir Jim Ratcliffe in an interview not so long ago spoke about how Real Madrid have a few players that are in and around the £100m valuation. He said that United have none.

From these wages though, one would think that ALL our players are world beaters and worthy of a Ballon d'Or.

I hope INEOS get cracking on reducing these wages because we can save a hell of a lot of money if we do. I don't think it sends the right message as well when a player such as Antony ears £200k-a-week compared to someone like Garnacho who earns just £50k-a-week.

Not good at all. None of these wages are the players' fault btw as it was the club who gave them such ridiculously high wages but even still, they don't display why they should actually be at United let alone earn such a high wage.

What do you make of this?

Yeah, I can talk and talk and talk about the things I love, like football and United, as you can see in this post. Once I get on a roll, it's pretty hard to stop me. This is all coming from a guy who doesn't talk that much. How weird.
