The deal we've all been waiting for for 25 years has finally landed!

Fabrizio Romano dropped his famous line on Manuel Ugarte to Man Utd. "€50m fixed fee plus €10m add-ons will be the final package.

Ugarte will travel to Manchester as he ONLY wanted United… and United only wanted him.

Done. ✅"

Romano also adds that "Manchester United never sent bids for any other midfielder than Manuel Ugarte.

He’s always been option number 1, 2 and 3 for Man Utd as considered perfect fit for their midfield.

United never left talks also bcs Ugarte informed PSG that he only wanted to play for #MUFC."

Done and done 🙌.

Final Thoughts

Really happy with this deal. I believe that his profile of midfielder is exactly what we needed due to his old school, traditional, destroyer of a CDM who can cover ground and win the ball back quickly that has the potential to revolutionize our midfield.

While I am excited, the fact that it's taken so long to do the deal and that we've been receiving the 'close', 'closer than close', 'imminent' words that this deal will be done sooner rather than later for the past two weeks or so has sort of killed some of that excitement.

He also agreed personal terms back in July so to have to wait that long is a little frustrating.

The deal itself is worth basically around the €60m that PSG were asking for anyway. People will then (rightfully) think why didn't we just do it earlier.

I think it's because we didn't have the funds. I also thought that that asking price will remain the same (€60m) all window and that it will be up to United to get the money rather than try to get a better deal. If we happened to get a better deal, that would've been a bonus.

As we've seen (and heard) MUFC are selling to buy when it comes to our signings.

We sold Mason Greenwood, Willy Kambwala and Donny van de Beek, we brought in Joshua Zirkzee/Leny Yoro. Aaron Wan-Bissaka sold to West Ham, Noussair Mazraoui and Matthijs De Ligt come in. We know that Scott McTominay is on his way to Napoli which would've given us some of the funds to get Ugarte.

In fact, David Ornstein has just said that McTominay is "expected to travel to Italy today with aim of finalising move from Manchester United to Napoli. Agreement in principle between #SSCNapoli & #MUFC on deal worth ~£25m (€30m) + advancing towards completion on personal terms."

Things are moving fast. Good 👍.

I think we've done some really good business and I'm happy that we've managed to do this Ugarte deal early in the week which allows us to have our main business done and we allow ourselves some time to do other transfers before the window ends on Friday.

But what do you think about this Manuel Ugarte deal?

Yeah, I can talk and talk and talk about the things I love, like football and United, as you can see in this post. Once I get on a roll, it's pretty hard to stop me. This is all coming from a guy who doesn't talk that much. How weird.
