You know what, at this point, I'd sell him just so we don't have to talk about him ALL. THE. TIME!
It feels like every day or at least every other day we get something about Rashford. The guy can't breathe. He can't even watch a basketball game in peace!
The problem for him though, is that a lot of the reports surrounding him is negative and this one is no different.
This story is coming from Germany as Florian Plettenberg (Plettigoal) says that:
"Manchester United would sell Marcus #Rashford at the latest by the summer and would already be open to top offers in the winter. The club acknowledge his development under Ruben #Amorim but consider him definitely not unsellable.
One reason why a sale is being discussed: if he were to leave the club due to his very high salary, it would free up critical points in the complicated Financial Fair Play system, which, in turn, would give the Red Devils more room to maneuver in the transfer market.
27 y/o with a contract until 2028."
More reports have come in from Luke Edwards of The Telegraph saying that "Marcus Rashford is fighting to save his #mufc career. The club were open to selling him last summer and remain receptive to bids being made."
Edwards mentions how United are "concerned" about the forward's lifestyle off the field and that they fear "he is no longer as focused on his football as he could be." These 'distractions' could be a reason as to why we're seeing poor performances.
The article adds that there is a small chance that United can find a buyer for Rashford in January thanks to his high wage of £325k-a-week. "There is a greater chance of him being offloaded in the summer."
Edwards even says that there is the option that Rashford could move to Saudi Arabia and "a change of country and environment in France with Paris St-Germain has also been mooted."
I see this as a financial decision by the looks of it but I would sell him because he's been shite for too long. He is much too inconsistent for a player with his quality, history with the club and wage, of which is at £300k-a-week (Capology) although The Telegraph says £325k-a-week.
What's £25k to someone like Rashford anyway?
The fact that United are now open to selling him is something that we're starting to hear a lot more. Not a week goes by where his future isn't discussed whether it be by fans just having a general chat or something a little more serious, like these pieces of news.
Plettenberg says that 'the club acknowledge his [Rashford's] development under Ruben Amorim' is shite to me. Maybe Plettenberg is just saying this or is what he's been told but Rashford hasn't been good under Amorim. He's been terrible.
I understand that most of the time since the 39-year-old became the manager, MR10 has been asked to play as a CAM or centre-forward, two roles that he's not particularly comfortable with, nor do I think he has the attributes to play those positions.
Yet, while this may not be the area of the pitch he wants to play in, he can still give his absolute all regardless of position. Understandably, as a player, when you don't start a game, you feel upset, which they should do, but when you come on as a substitute, again, give it everything you've got.
This is where Rashford fails utterly because he never seems to show the right attitude nor care when either asked to play out of position or has to come off the bench.
Look at him in United's last two matches. Poor performances, even poorer attitude. This is not Man Utd level.
Yes he's been involved up front with 7 goals and 3 assists but we need more than that from him. It's not just about the goals and assists, he needs to put in the performances and more than anything, the effort.
He also has a problem in Amorim's system as the only positions he can play in are striker or CAM but we've established that those aren't his best positions, or he can play out wide on either flank.
However, with the form Amad is in, Rashford is not going to displace him on the right and while the left wing-back spot is available given that no one has nailed that place down, one has to work really hard to support the team offensively and defensively.
Rashford doesn't work hard nor can he defend.
So where is his best position?
Most would say bench or, as per these reports, at another club.
Those wages of his (and many of our players) is way too high. We pay Mbappe-level wages for Jordan Ayew-level quality. It's not on the players what type of wage they get but they should still show the right attitude whenever they wear the red of United.
His £300k-a-week would free up £15.6m a year, which would be £62.4m for the remainder of his contract which expires in June 2028. This will obviously go a long way in helping the club save money and allow us to buy other players, which is what Plettenberg says United would like to do should they sell Rashford.
This would then subsequently help the club when it comes to FFP.
It is a pity that things have come to this. I personally have always liked Rashford but have never been wholly convinced by him. I've also never gotten to a point where I absolutely love him which is where I wanted to be with this player.
I've actually been open to selling him for a while because even a couple of years ago before he had THAT season under Erik ten Hag, he was inconsistent.
Ever since the 22/23 campaign in which he scored 30 goals and had 11 assists (his best-ever return for MUFC), 'Rashy' has been way off it. He was awarded player of the year that season which makes it more incredible as to how he had such a fall last season where he was one of the worst players. Unlike others, Rashford also didn't have the excuse of injury as he was available most of the season.
He also had issues off the field like the Belfast incident which saw him go to a nightclub in the early hours of a morning in February this year. Later that day, he reported too ill to train.
Il-discipline from the Doctor.
He has not been himself for a long time both on and off the pitch as not only has his performances been poor but the fact that he did what he did in Belfast is also out of character.
We know that for a long time he's been linked with PSG and I think that that would be a good fit for him. The league isn't as tough, he would win trophies and play Champions League football regularly, earn a lot of money and Paris is a lavish city which could be something that he'd like as well.
A move to Saudi only makes sense for financial reasons. They can afford his high wage but other than that, how does this move benefit Rashford?
I think Paris is his best fit.
What would you do with Rashford? Sell or keep? How much do you think he's currently worth?
