Shoo π₯΅, what a day!
Those famous three words have been said by his majesty and lord of transfer news Fabrizio Romano as Mason Greenwood looks set to move Marseille.
β
Romano reports that Greenwood has been booked a private flight by his new club π³ in order to undergo his medicals and sign his contract. That contract will be until June 2029.
United will receive a β¬30m package plus a 50% sell-on clause.
It's crazy how we've gotten a 'Here we go' for Greenwood because not so long ago, the mayor of the town of Marseille was saying how he didn't want him at the club.
Football can be a funny old game π€£.
Quite the busy day indeed.
β
But with this, it means that Greenwood becomes the sixth player to leave the club this transfer window and the third to depart for a transfer fee after Donny van de Beek (β¬500k) and Willy Kambwala (β¬10m).
The fee of β¬30m for Greenwood can be used to fund the Leny Yoro deal. It seems as if INEOS are operating with a one in, one out policy.
I like it π.
β
We know that there are several players that need to leave the club which will not only help fund new signings but also free up space in the squad.
This is good (and proper, for once) business by United. Fair play INEOS, fair play π.

Final Thoughts
I will admit that I'm surprised he's moving to Ligue 1 and to Marseille of all clubs. I mean no disrespect to the French league or Marseille but I felt that Greenwood was better than that. Moving to a Juventus in Serie A or Barcelona in La Liga would've been a move I'd deem more fitting.
I've been asked the question many times about what I'd do with Greenwood with my response being a little torn.
On the one hand, I would let him go simply because I fear that a lot of the English public will be on his back for what he allegedly did. They wouldn't let him hear the end of it which isn't something you want someone so young (22) to have to go through. This could've hampered his ability on the football pitch.
Speaking of, and this is the other part of me, on the field: what a player. Mason Greenwood has all the makings to be a top player for the future and I was so happy we had him at our club. I truly believed this guy could take us to the next level. This is why half of me wanted him to stay.
β
Of course, that won't be the case anymore but I hope that he can go and find that true form again that which we saw at United for those three seasons.
He scored a total of 35 goals for United and had 12 assists in 129 games for the club. His last goal was against Brentford away in the 21/22 campaign.
