Some transfer news (finally) at Old Trafford as news of a potential deal for left-back Patrick Dorgu looks to be on the cards and out-of-favor Brazilian Antony appears to be on his way to Spain.

David Ornstein dropped some news regarding Danish left-back Dorgu from Lecce as he says that "Man Utd in talks with Lecce over potential deal for left-back Patrick Dorgu. No agreement but dialogue progressing for 20yo Denmark int’l."

Fabrizio Romano: "Manchester United are set to open formal talks with Lecce for Patrick Dorgu, no bid has been sent so far.

Dorgu, 100% keen on move… Lecce want around €40m."

Via La Gazzetta dello Sport, they are saying that an 'initial formal offer' of just below €30m has been submitted by United but is considered not enough for Lecce.

They also say that talks have intensified in recent hours with an offer of €35m plus bonuses being one that could be accepted.

Other reports have said that United have looked at other options in this position with the club still monitoring the situation of Nuno Mendes although it looks like he could sign a new deal at PSG.

Regarding a current left-back at United, Tyrell Malacia, Sky Sports are saying that the club will look for loan offers until the end of the season for the Dutchman in January. They report that United feel that playing regular football could benefit Malacia before he returns to the club in pre-season.

As for Antony, we had the 'Here we go' for him to Betis earlier today and this one has been coming for a little while.

Romano: "Verbal agreement in place between all parties with Man United too.

Documents being checked; then time for travel and medical tests.

United will let him leave on loan deal with no buy clause. He'll be formally back to United in June."

So Antony looks to be done at United, at least for now. Here's all I have to say regarding this flop.

Final Thoughts

I don't know much about Dorgu admittedly. But considering his age, versatility and most importantly, the fact that he is a left-back means that he would categorically improve our team.

I believe under a manager like Amorim as well, the development he'll have will be tenfold.

We have no left-back at the moment because Shaw is forever injured and Malacia is out of favor and looks to be heading out too (which I think is a good thing) meaning that we are left-back-less, as we have been for quite a while.

Dalot has been deputizing in that position but he has been poor, to put it mildly. His lack of a left-foot has also been a problem because he continues to cut in on his preferred right-foot which slows down and kills attacks.

With an actual left-footer, we won't have to worry about this and we will have more balance to the team.

From what people say about Dorgu, he appears to be a player with a lot of potential. As he is also 6ft 2, having a full-back who is tall is not something you usually get but does provide United with some height.

He also doesn't have any injury history of note which is more than we can say for our current left-backs.

A potential cheap deal like this makes sense to me as while he isn't the finished article which is what's required at the moment more than potential, he at least gives us what we need for now and potentially future.

€40m is too much in my opinion though, so we need to try and bring that down otherwise, this could be a good deal.

Yeah, I can talk and talk and talk about the things I love, like football and United, as you can see in this post. Once I get on a roll, it's pretty hard to stop me. This is all coming from a guy who doesn't talk that much. How weird.
