Yes, the first transfer of the Amorim era has been given the 'Here we go' as Patrick Dorgu will join United.

Romano says that "Verbal agreement in place with Lecce, documents to be checked in next 24h.

Fee will be €30m plus €5m in add-ons not guaranteed.

Long term contract agreed days ago with the player…"

We knew that this was bound to happen at some point soon as per the reports in recent weeks and with the update this morning that we should expect this within the next 24 hours.

But it's great that we finally have a signing over the line as it's been looking so bleak all January when we know that United need improvements almost everywhere with one of the main positions being left-back/left wing-back.

Luke Shaw is forever injured, Tyrell Malacia doesn't seem to be a player that Amorim trusts just yet and Dalot and Mazraoui have been filling in in that position with the Portuguese playing as that LWB for most of the season. Whilst Dalot has tried his best despite not being a LB/LWB, it's clear to see that he simply isn't good enough.

So with Dorgu actually being a left-footer and player who can play in that position, it will already improve us regardless of his quality, which apparently is very good from what I've seen.

With Amorim also pushing for the player, I'm happy that we've brought him in because he was identified by the manager as someone he sees who fits into his team.

However, I'm not overly excited by this player if I'm honest. I mean no disrespect to him and hope it goes well, but it isn't exactly a marquee signing. He also isn't a player who's been ripping it up in his short career so far. Dorgu is also young and relatively inexperienced so doesn't get me off my seat. I will back him though and give him a chance as we do with all signings.

On the flip side, as I said, he will improve us because he can play in a position that has been vacant at United for pretty much a year. Can't believe Manchester United haven't had a left-back in a year 😵.

As Romano says as well, he will sign a long term contract as he is only 20-years-old. The Dane is one for the future and is another player that we've signed since the new regime took over that is within the age range of 18-26 which is a great age for a footballer.

There is also room for development for Dorgu and under someone like Amorim, I believe he will be getting a coach who can bring the best out of him.

As for the deal itself, €30m (£25m) isn't the worst although I do think it's a little excessive for a young, up-and-coming, left-back but still better than I thought as a lot of the reports were saying around the £30m mark!

For a player with his potential and his age I think it's a decent price. If it doesn't work out, then we know that it isn't a hell of a lot of money wasted compared to some of the deals we've done in the past.

But that is our first signing under Ruben Amorim and first in January. Took them almost the whole window to get it done when we needed him (or anyone else for that matter) a lot earlier.

What do you think about him and his deal to United?

Welcome to the greatest club in the world Patrick Dorgu.

Yeah, I can talk and talk and talk about the things I love, like football and United, as you can see in this post. Once I get on a roll, it's pretty hard to stop me. This is all coming from a guy who doesn't talk that much. How weird.
