The Man Utd boss is looking to strengthen his attack as he is reported to be in search of a striker come the winter transfer window.

The Mirror are saying that Ruben Amorim has made signing a striker 'the top priority' in the upcoming window, via The United Stand.

The Manchester Evening News are saying that Victor Osimhen is a potential target even in January.

"Osimhen is one of only a few players who could realistic move in the upcoming January transfer window. It is believed that before he moved to Turkey on loan he agreed a break clause which meant that if one of ten clubs approached Napoli with a permanent offer for him, he would be allowed to cut short his Galatasaray spell to pursue a deal elsewhere", via The United Stand.

Final Thoughts

I don't actually agree that this is a 'top priority' position. I can see why the manager would want a striker but I feel as though that is something for the summer window rather than January.

I think that for the moment with Hojlund and Zirkzee and the option of Rashford who can also play up top, we should be ok.

I understand that out of those three, only Hojlund is a proper number 9 and should he get injured, we don't have someone who can properly replace him. But again, I believe that Zirkzee and Rashford can hold that position for the time being until the end of the season.

I would also like to see what Hojlund can do as the striker under Amorim. I believe he can be similar to Viktor Gyokeres given the time.

The other issue is that we don't actually create chances for the striker. Hojlund was in another graveyard shift at Arsenal as he had nothing going for him. He never really does and a lot of his goals are half chances or opportunities he makes himself.

I agree that he needs to improve in areas like hold up play, link up play, winning headers and more, but I don't think he is terrible at those aspects of the striker's game.

So without the chances, I don't necessarily see what the point of bringing in a new striker is.

If Amorim believes that by the time the window opens in just under a month, he can get United creating chances for the striker (and chances in general), then maybe it would make sense to bring in another centre-forward.

That is a big task for the new boss but if he believes that he can do this, then I will back him and hope that he succeeds.

However, with a potential to sign Osimhen, that is another story as he has been one of the best striker's in football in the last couple of years. With what is being reported, United are probably one of those ten clubs he could move to.

The Nigerian has scored 9 goals and grabbed 5 assists for Galatasaray this season in 12 games.

While not seeing why we need a new striker (at the moment), I wouldn't be opposed to a new centre-forward coming in and I will back him, whoever he is.

Yeah, I can talk and talk and talk about the things I love, like football and United, as you can see in this post. Once I get on a roll, it's pretty hard to stop me. This is all coming from a guy who doesn't talk that much. How weird.
