Another one of Erik ten Hag's original assistants upon joining United has departed the club as Steve McClaren leaves to become the manager of Jamaica.
The official Jamaican X account posted this image on their page to welcome their new manager.
McClaren joined United two years ago as part of Erik ten Hag's staff when the Dutchman became manager of United. He was a coach the Dutchman desperately wanted alongside him as he took on this new adventure in Manchester.
As we know, this was McClaren's second stint at MUFC after having been at the club from 1999-2001 helping Sir Alex Ferguson claim the famous treble in what is the most successful season in the club's history.
While his second stint may not have been quite so glorious, he still managed to win two trophies in the Carabao Cup (22/23) and the FA Cup (23/24) making it a relatively memorable two years at the club.
McClaren also becomes the third coach of ten Hag's original coaching staff to depart after both Benni McCarthy and Mitchell van der Gaag left not so long ago. With the arrivals of Rene Hake and Ruud van Nistelrooy, the writing was probably on the cards for these three hence their inevitable departures.
In his two spells at United, Steve McClaren won:
3 Premier Leagues
2 FA Cups
1 Champions League
1 Carabao Cup
1 Treble
Thanks for thememories Mr McClaren and I wish you well for the future.
