United's only available left-back before the arrival of Patrick Dorgu has moved back to his native Netherlands to join PSV on loan until the end of the season.
Fabrizio Romano says that there is a €10m buy option and that his salary of £75k-a-week is covered whilst there is also a 30% sell-on clause.
Malacia joined United in 22/23 and was the first signing of Erik ten Hag's. He slotted into the side pretty early on thanks to Luke Shaw's unreliability. Malacia's first game at Old Trafford was to come up against Mo Salah and Liverpool which turned out to be one hell of a performance that got many of us thinking that perhaps we have found Shaw's replacement.
However, while there were other good performances by the 25-year-old (good lord! I thought bro was like 22 😳) he never really displayed that level of quality to suggest that he would be the number one left-back at United for years to come.
He's made just the 39 appearances for the club in over two years but the defender did miss over a year of football after picking up a knee injury towards the end of the first campaign.
It's unheard of for a player to miss an entire season due to an injury but setback after setback meant that 23/24 was completely voided by the left-back.
He returned this season with his first start being against Bodo/Glimt at the end of November last year since featuring against Fulham in the final days of the 22/23 campaign.

I've never been a massive fan of his but did see the value in having a player like him in the squad. With the unreliability of Shaw, we did need another LB. Then Malacia decided to get injured for a year and we haven't had a left-back since.
It's unfortunate what has happened to him because like I said, a player being out for that amount of time is unheard of, and I think we all forgot what type of player he is and whether he's good enough or not.
The defender was understandably very shaky in just his 9 appearances this season which was bound to happen when you've been out of football for over a year.
This meant that we never really got to see what he was all about and in the end, I think a lot of us feel that maybe it is a good thing to move him on as well.
This loan is what he needed to try and get his career back on track because I doubt that he was going to get much time at United with Dorgu coming in and the sudden reappearance of Shaw.
Perhaps Malacia could find some form and get a move in the summer because I think it's highly unlikely that he has a future at United given his potential injury issues and age of 25.
It does leave us at a bit of a risk because should Dorgu not hit the ground running or get injured, it will mean that Dalot will have to fill in as left wing-back again which isn't a good thing. Shaw's unreliability means that he would probably play for about 10 minutes before breaking down again.
On the other hand, it's not as if Malacia was the next Evra but at least he would've provided some balance as he actually has a left-foot.
I hope he does well and can find some form. I wish him all the best.
