Villa game will determine Erik ten Hag's future

He's gone then

We ain't got no chance on Sunday. Forget about it. We may as well give Emery the 3 points now, save ourselves the embarrassment and have extra time off.

And sack ten Hag now.

With where the two teams are at and the fact that Erik ten Hag looks like he's trying to get sacked as his decisions are shambolic, going to Villa Park is probably one of the last places we want to go.

Or perhaps it could be the best?

Maybe it is the perfect game for us. All the expectation is on Villa to hammer us; everyone knows we will play shite; everyone expects it to be ten Hag's final game. But go there and play the best football we can possibly play and maybe, we won't get absolutely humiliated. Only a little humiliated.

There's always a chance that we could show up and play good football and get a result that shocks the world. We did do the double over Villa last season so...

But that looks like a distant dream and the nightmare of a horror show is more likely.

The reports are saying that that game will be the one to decide ten Hag's fate.

I honestly think they should've decided already. Even if we were playing well, going to Villa Park is really difficult. Getting the win is tough. They beat both Arsenal and City at home last season when the two of those are the best teams in the league so this shouldn't be a do-or-die for our manager.

News is also coming out that United are reigniting their talks with Thomas Tuchel over potentially replacing ten Hag (iPaperSport). We also already know that Ruud van Nistelrooy is a heavy favorite to takeover from his fellow Dutchman if and when he is sacked.

I don't believe they truly know who they want to replace ten Hag with. This is why we're going from a game-to-game basis to decide his future. What if we performa well and win at Villa and they decide to keep him because of that? But then after the international break we play badly and lose at home to Brentford?

They should know what they want but I don't think that they do.

Perhaps shit hit the fan too quickly and unexpectedly resulting in all this confusion and indecision, if that is the case.

But even Ruud has had some slack thrown at his name.

In something you may have missed yesterday thanks to it being match day, Sami Mokbel of the Daily Mail spoke about van Nistelrooy's agent and some issues the former striker faced with players at his previous job as PSV manager.

He was saying that Ruud's agent has been spending a lot of time in Manchester recently; PSV players were worried about his abilities as a coach; his players reportedly said he was too stubborn and not willing to adapt; those players even approached the PSV board with those concerns - via @UnitedRedReport.

I mean I don't even know what to make of this. He's not even the manager (yet) and already people are talking shit about him.

Whether this is true or not, to be having this out there at all shows just what a circus we are. We can't even keep our own house in order. If it is true, then we have a problem because we know that whenever our players face any small issue, they start crying.

Ruud as manager probably won't get well.

On the other hand, there were positive reports about Ruud and how he's impressed the board at United. "His presence and communication has impressed players and staff", Laurie Whitwell.

So which is it?

I am at the point now where the manager and coaches don't make a difference, that who we sign will eventually become shite and a problem.

I believe it's the entire culture that's the issue, something that has been talked about as a potential problem for while but has only now been seen clearly.

When Erik ten Hag first came to the club, I won't say he was quite a maverick but I felt he was more himself than what he appears to be now.

He was a lot more honest and blunt, saying it like it is and while his pressers and interviews were a little boring because of how short his replies were, it was at least honest.

There was also a lot more passion and fire on the touch line something that ex-coach Benni McCarthy spoke about ten Hag not having in a recent interview (ZeroZero).

ten Hag has become someone else entirely.

He isn't as honest anymore, his quotes are very confusing and contradictory, his decision-making is off. There's nothing about him that exists now that was there a couple of years ago.

It's not the same guy.

The new players who come in regardless of their quality (of which I believe most of them are quality) eventually fall off in terms of their performances and start to do things that are pretty stupid and naive in my opinion.

Take Lisandro Martinez, the Butcher. He is one of my favorite players. He has that passion and heart in his game and is something we all love to see. He is also a top player.

But looking at him this season though, he is performing terribly. He is nowhere near the player he was in his first season and understandably, the injuries he sustained last season could be a reason as to why he's playing like he is but even still, he should be doing a lot better.

After the 3-0 loss at home to Liverpool, there was an international break. He loves playing for his country just like all players do. A couple of days after that humiliation, he was taking pictures and smiling with Alexis Mac Allister of Liverpool who just two days earlier, was part of the team who hammered us at home.

Those sort of things don't sit well with me. How can you be doing that? I get it that they're playing for their country and they're now team-mates but do something like that behind the scenes. Don't put it out there for all to see and ridicule and be angry with you. There was a lot of people upset at that picture and is part of the reason why we fail.

Rasmus Hojlund came out with a silly post last night as well. On his Instagram, he posted this:

Garnacho and Zirkzee commented.

If one didn't know the situation we're in, they would think all is fine from this post. It gave off the feeling that United are in a solid position. We're playing consistently good football and are winning regularly.

I know that this was his first start in a while after a heavy injury and to get a goal is a great thing, but still, read the room. We weren't good last night. The performance was poor, we didn't win, we threw a 2-goal lead away, and our manager could get sacked.

This is the culture problem. This is why we fail.

Even players who are new and good eventually become infected with this stupid mindset.

This is where I feel that the manager should step in and say something. Try to stop this nonsense.

But I don't think that he does.

I DON'T want the manager to be sacked. I know that that sounds stupid because reasons but it's just that we've been here so many times before. We've tried so many managers and so many different types.

We've gone with the highly recommended one by Sir Alex in David Moyes. Didn't work and he had a title-winning side.

We went with the tried and tested, old, experienced head in Louis van Gaal. Didn't work. The Special One and serial winner Jose Mourinho came in. Didn't work and probably should've been the biggest indication that something is truly wrong as if he couldn't get a tune out of the players, then nobody would.

The ex-legend Ole Gunnar Solskjaer then arrives. That didn't work.

And finally, we went with the new up-and-coming hip manager Erik ten Hag. Hasn't worked.

This is why I believe that there's just some culture issue at the club that's been allowed to fester over many years to a point where now, I don't believe any one person can solve it. Many things have to change and it starts at the top.

I don't know man. I just don't recognize my club anymore.

Yeah, I can talk and talk and talk about the things I love, like football and United, as you can see in this post. Once I get on a roll, it's pretty hard to stop me. This is all coming from a guy who doesn't talk that much. How weird.
