I don't know about you but I feel that with United, we appear to be going nowhere fast. We're neither here nor there at the moment.
When watching the games, we don't know what we're going to get which is the ultimate problem: inconsistency.
What we needed to see from us this season was some form of consistency. United needed to start showing a style of football that was easier on the eye compared to what we've been seeing for the past decade. We needed to see improvement in results and an ability to at least give the tougher opponents a game even if it led to defeat.
But the only thing we're consistent at is being inconsistent, which is obviously NOT the consistency we're looking for.
The things is, we're not entirely shite all the time for us to say that the manager needs to go; we do have the ability to play well in games like Southampton, Palace and Brentford; some matches see a meh performance but a decent result like Fenerbahce and Villa; we have those like yesterday where we play well but still manage to cock up; and then there are of course, the games where we don't show up entirely and get hammered, like Liverpool and Spurs.
To be so up and down so often is actually worse than us being completely useless. At least in that sense, we know something has to change.
Having decent performances and results makes things worse because it shows that this team is capable (to some level) of playing well which then gives us that false hope.
We start to believe again.
But when you don't know what you're going to get in the next game, it tells you that something is seriously off.
I feel that INEOS as well haven't really helped as they too, appear to be a little indecisive. They haven't come out and truly backed ten Hag to a point where we know that he will stay, at least for the foreseeable future, but nor have they put out anything that suggests that the manager is truly under the pump and that if things go awry in the next game, that's it.
All we've gotten is news from journalists and reporters who while they may have good sources and connections with the club, aren't the club themselves.
This lack of action leaves us all in the dark and it is very frustrating.
While I am a fan of Erik ten Hag's (no I'm not drunk), even as a ten Hag inner, I can see that perhaps he is not the guy. But a lot of those players just aren't the guys as well.
Like I said, when they want to, they can turn it on but saying when they want to is completely unacceptable. It should be all the time that we see good performances or at least 100% effort.
The defeat to West Ham was on the players, not the manager which isn't something we've been saying a lot recently. Usually ten Hag is as much at fault as his team but this time, not so much.
Yes one can point out that the coaching may not be up to standard but I don't think a player for Man Utd needs a coach to teach them some of the basics.
Like how the fuck do you miss an open goal?! I know he's a right-back, but you and I would've scored that. It was harder to miss than to score.
These are the type of things that cause us to think that these players aren't good enough,
for Birmingham City let alone United.
Dalot wasn't the only one to miss sitters as Bruno and Garnacho should've scored before that howler from the right-back.
It makes no sense that we are worse up front than we were last season despite what I think is an upgrade from Benni McCarthy to Ruud van Nistelrooy in terms of that striking coach. Ruud is arguably one of United's greatest strikers of all time and one of the best during his prime on the field. If anyone should be getting this team to score more goals, it would be him.
Yet here we are. We've missed 22 big chances in the league this season, more than anyone else.
United may not have scored enough last season but we weren't creating anywhere near as much clear cut opportunities, which in itself is an improvement, but what's the point when you keep missing?
And how many bangers did we score last season? We won so many goal of the month awards. Now we're missing open goals.
MUFC have won ONE of their last eight games which was the 2-1 victory over Brentford. We only scored 8 in that time while conceding 11.
We are 14th in the league with 11 points after nine matches with a GD of -3. Only Palace and Southampton have scored fewer (6) to our 8.
Wow.
The Europa League is also not looking good as the Red Devils are in 21st spot with three draws from three.
There are more reasons to sack ten Hag than to keep him even if all of this isn't completely his fault. We know that this is the worst start to a PL season ever and to be doing poorly in the second-tier European competition against teams that our second team should be beating is intolerable.
Erik ten Hag keeps talking about sticking to the plan and that we're in the right direction but what is the plan? Are we moving in the right direction? Are we moving at all is my question.
Like I said, we cannot continue to be as inconsistent and all over the place as we are. We need to show some form of consistency. Our style of play is one that nobody can say what it is; we don't know what team he'll pick for the next game; and we don't know whether the team will show up or not.
We just need to be something so we know what we are.
INEOS also have to make a call because it cannot carry on this way. They should be communicating better in my opinion instead of just leaving us in the dark.
Honestly though, I feel as if they will keep him until the next international break unless things go completely to shit, although looking at where we are, how much worse can we get?
Why did I say that?! United are now going to prove me wrong, aren't they?
FFS 🤦♂️.
What do you think will happen? Do you think anything will happen?
