While our club has been known for development young talent over it's illustrious histroy, at the moment, it seems to be the only strategy being used when it comes to buying new players.

Shaun Connolly, Editor-in-chief at Theatre of Red, says that United will focus their attempts on new recruits at younger players rather than overspending on older ones. "The word around Manchester United continues to be a unified focus on recruiting youth and developing talent, rather than overpaying for household names. 👇🏻

“This is not a case of attracting the biggest names in world football. We need to look past that dated ideology.”

Well then, it doesn't appear that we will be going for the Casemiro's and Rapha Varane's anymore according to this comment.

This all comes after we were linked to Southampton's Tyler Dibling. The 19-year-old midfielder has impressed with performances this season and has been a shining light to the Saint's truly horrible campaign, one that will see them head straight back down to the Championship as the worst team in Premier League history.

Despite that though and Dibling's vast inexperience, they want a reported £100m or more for his signature!

Yes you read that correctly: Southampton want £100m or more for a young, inexprienced player playing in his first season in the Premier League with most people not even knowing who he was prior to this season.

And it ain't as if he is playing like Lamine Yamal or anything either.

"Southampton are ready to demand a fee of more than £100m for Tyler Dibling (19), reports @TeleFootball.

It's further added that Southampton believe Dibling is one of the best youngsters in English football" via EuroFoot.

However, a more recent update suggests that the Saints will most likely accept a fee that is much lower than that. "While £100M is the price being banded around publically for Tyler Dibling, privately Southampton will find it hard to turn down an offer closer to £60M. [@FrazFletcher, @TEAMtalk]" via UtdXclusive.

So at least it's not an absolutely ridiculous price, just a ridiculous one. £60m is still waaaaaayyyyyy too much for this player. I mean no disrespect to him and he no doubt appears to be a talent but £100m or £60m is asking for too much. Perhaps something from £25m or lower would be reasonable.

£100m for Tyler Dibling 🙄. Ronaldo went to Juventus for this price. Ronaldo.

I'm not sure why we want to focus on young talent, develop them and then probably sell them for a decent price. It's not necessarily a bad thing but we aren't in a position as a team and club to be taking risks like this. We need players for the now not any of these potentials.

We've also brought in enough of those in recent windows with the likes of Patrick Dorgu, Ayden Heaven, Joshua Zirkzee, Chido Obi and others. I think it's about time we bring in those that can slot in into the team (and Amorim's system) straightaway.

Players such as Noussair Mazraoui, Matthijs De Ligt and Manuel Ugarte are the types we need. Experienced but decent ages and also brought in for a good price. They also happen to be three of our best players this season.

I would agree that we shouldn't be overspending on the Casemiros, Ronaldos, Varanes, Cavanis and Zlatans anymore. Yes those players were brilliant but they were only stopgaps, nothing for the long term. These players also demand a high wage which is something else we need to move away from.

I actually thought that this was going to be the case with INEOS. Overspending and overpaying on wages was something from the old regime and was an area of our club that was kind of a tap-in for the new co-owners. That was a banker in terms of doing something right that the previous board couldn't.

With a new stadium coming up in five years time, we cannot be having a squad either full of new youngsters or ones that have been sold once they've gotten older. A team that is able to compete needs to be ready for that new stadium.

It also doesn't make sense in terms of the experience around them. Young players need the help and guidance of the wiser heads whilst on the pitch. United don't have that at the moment. We also don't have many winners which makes a difference as well.

Team news

As for those returning from international duty and injruy, United have put out pictures from Carrington in which we can see the likes of captain Bruno Fernandes, Rasmus Hojlund, Joshua Zirkzee, Diogo Dalot as well as Harry Maguire, Leny Yoro, Mason Mount and Luke Shaw.

Amorim getting some players back ahead of the final stretch of the campaign is precisely what he would've been wanting.

There was no Victor Lindelof, Noussair Mazraoui and Manuel Ugarte who were all missing due to their nations playing their final international match on Tuesday and were given extra time off.

It's good to see that we have players returing from injury. We absolutely need them before this period that will make or break our season. Not only that, those on international duty seem to have come back without any injuries either.

The manager will be relieved at this news because he was having to use a lot of youngsters in his squads before this break. He will need the experience of his senior players for the next few matches in particular as they will be a huge test.

Next five:

Forest (A)

City (H)

Lyon (A)

Newcastle (A)

Lyon (H)

Yeah, some truly awful fixtures to come back to 🤣.

Hopefully more players will return and we won't lose more to injuries.

What do you make of the Tyler Dibling news and those returning from injury?

Yeah, I can talk and talk and talk about the things I love, like football and United, as you can see in this post. Once I get on a roll, it's pretty hard to stop me. This is all coming from a guy who doesn't talk that much. How weird.
