United's no 1 has come under a lot of fire this season for multiple unconvincing performances after a first campaign in which he had multiple unconvincing performances. He was largely responsible for the club being dumped out of the Champions League last year and could be the reason we're dumped out of Europe again after his two gaffs in the draw against Lyon last week.
This along with some personal issues meant that manager Ruben Amorim left him out of the matchday squad for the loss at Newcastle. His deputy Bayindir didn't fill us with confidence either as he was similarly shaky to Onana. The Turk giving away a cheap goal.
Fans have become undecided on who should be selected in goal for what is the club's biggest game in a long time. What it does seem like though, is that it may not be the Cameroonian.
News has surfaced that Onana "doesn't know whether he will be recalled against Lyon on Thursday." With Bayindir himself being unconvincing, it is unclear who will be the man in goal for Thursday's second leg (MEN). The article also says that Onana did want to feature in that 4-1 defeat but felt that that rest benefitted him.
There's more news on top of this and it doesn't bode well for Onana and his future at Old Trafford.
El Nacional in Spain are saying that "Manchester United head coach Ruben Amorim is reportedly DESPERATE for the club to sell André Onana this summer." Amorim is apparently eyeing up a move for either Joan Garcia of Espanyol or Alex Remiro of Real Sociedad via Transfer News Live.
Whatever happens, it's clear that Onana's days at United may be numbered.
It's no secret that we need a new goalkeeper. It wasn't considered high on the list of priorities at the start of the season but game after game, it's becoming more prevalent that Onana simply doesn't cut the mustard.
He makes far too many mistakes that end up costing us one way or another with a case and point being the first leg against Lyon. Without those errors, Amorim may have had one foot in the semis already in a tie that is all important for everyone involved with the club.

The problem for Onana is that there's no aspect of his goalkeeping that actually warrants United to keep him. His shotstopping is poor, he doesn't command his box, he isn't strong enough when he does come for crosses (which isn't much of the time), he parries it into dangerous areas and the part of his game that we thought would be a massive upgrade to David de Gea and revolutionize this team, has been poor as well as that distribution finds the touchline or oppositions more than anything.
All of this results in him not filling any of us with much confidence and trust as even if we do have a good game, always in the back of our minds, we know that Onana could undo all of that hard work with a simple unforced error.
It's a pity with Onana. I do like him as I think he is quite a character but his confidence just does not match the ability. We saw this with that exchange with Nemaja Matic. No issues with what he said or how he responded to the former United midfielder but knowing that Onana isn't the best, one could not trust him to back up his words.
When he made those catastrophic gaffes, it made this look even worse, even for Amorim.
And it's things like this that cause you to think that this guy is not a United player, even more so than just his lack of quality.
What do you think will happen with Onana's future? Who should start in goal on Thursday? Onana? Bayindir? Heaton?!
